B-29 Doc, one of only two B-29 Superfortress aircraft out of nearly 4,000 that were built during World War II and still airworthy and flying today, will host an open house and volunteer recruitment fair Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Wichita.
The event will include free admission to the B-29 Doc Hangar, Education and Visitors Center on Saturday, Oct. 28 and members of the B-29 volunteer teams will be available to discuss the multiple volunteer opportunities that are available in Wichita with the organization.
Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to:
Doc’s volunteer team includes more than 150 volunteers and a majority of those volunteers are actively involved on a weekly or monthly basis to execute Doc’s present-day mission. Nearly a third of those volunteers are active daily with aircraft and hangar maintenance, hangar events, tour stops and other needs across the organization.
